Nursing Homes
Nursing Home Quality measures are publicly reported on www.medicare.gov. The quality measures are designed to assist consumers in making an informed decision about the care they receive and where they choose to receive it and to assist providers by measuring the quality of resident care.
In addition to developing and releasing quality measures for individual nursing homes, CMS has funded Quality Improvement Organizations (QIOs) in every state, territory and the District of Columbia to work directly with a few nursing homes and other providers to improve care for Medicare beneficiaries. To maximize the impact of their efforts, QIOs coordinate with key nursing home stakeholders, including federal and state regulators, trade associations and long-term care ombudsman offices.

QIOs work with Medicare and/or Medicaid certified nursing homes across the nation to improve the processes of care related to the publicly reported quality measures. The two national priority topics are:
As part of these efforts, QIOs provide nursing homes with guidelines-based clinical information on topics related to the quality measures.
As part of the 10th SOW, NHCQF will be supporting Advancing Excellence as the LANE co-convener in Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont. We will work with the trade associations in each state to enroll nursing homes with the goal to enroll all nursing homes in all three states. Through the Advancing Excellence campaign and in coordination with our trade association partners, we will be convening learning and action networks to work on topics of importance to nursing homes beginning early in 2012.
